Deliverance

In the corner of a dark place

Hangs a head in dire shame,

Turning over a life’s worries;

Taking on all the mounting blame.

A cranial void of no solutions,

Black as tunnel light can be,

Wondering where the chances went;

Expected them to be for free.

Starting on hearing known voices,

Coming far from pointed light,

Shaking out from the deep despair;

Given hope of final respite.

Unhinged doors burst in on him,

A figure stands within the frame,

Smiles exchanged, bursting wildly;

A bullet lodges in his brain.

No giraffes

No giraffe was seen today

It was there before the virus

No one, except me, seems to care

Folk now gad about and gather closely

I stay back a bit, and go around the early times

The history of different days

Of pseudo romance

Of guessing

The carnyx sounding would be a parting show

To drive me out to face the rest

Without my ancient memory

No giraffes were seen today

Come the reaper

Entangled in a spider’s web

Frozen by layers of lies

We watch the fire sale

Aghast that the wisdom of age

Allowing it to happen and progress

No repercussion

No real discussion

No statesmen in power

Just the reapers; reaping

Fire! Fire!

He was scarred as a lobster

seeing steam come from water

He opened every window wide

Hearing the rustling trees

double-park across the gate

Working steady, a work of hate

A dying spark in the little campfire

set fire around him in a ring

He was inside now with no song to sing
